Evaluation Points on Standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress are devised to comply with the requirements of Commissioner’s Regulations and Education Law.
If a student does not complete a coursework within the term, he/she will be issued an incomplete grade of “I”. A grade of “I” will not affect a student’s Grade Point Average (GPA) but it will affect the number of hours attempted. A student has one term to change the grade from an “I” to a passing grade. At that time, the student’s file will document the Change of Grade. If the student fails to complete the coursework within the prescribed term, the “I” grade will change to a grade of “F”. At this point, the change will affect student’s SAP.
• Make-up hours must be done in the course(s) that the student was absent and under the jurisdiction of an Instructor.
• When make-up hours are completed within the expected graduation date, there will be no charge for these hours.
• A charge for make-up hours will apply when hours are completed after the expected graduation date.
• A student will be charged the per hour cost as documented on the existing enrollment agreement.
• A student may not use make up hours to replace missed projects and assignments.
• Assignments that are completed during these make up times are factored in student’s final grade with no penalty.
• In order to measure satisfactory academic progress, a student should achieve eighty-five (85%) percent attendance and make up all missing hours.
If a student receives a grade of “F”, the student must repeat the failed course. A failed course will affect a student GPA. When a repeat of a failed course occurs, the grade of the repeated course will be the grade calculated for the course.
The withdrawal date is determined at the time the student submits an official withdrawal form to the school’s record’s department. If a student does not complete the official withdrawal process, the school will determine the student’s withdrawal date based upon institutional records. Please note that “the failure of a student to notify the director in writing of withdrawal may delay refund of tuition due pursuant to Section 5002 of the Education Law.”
